Williamsport is probably most famous for being the home of Little League Baseball. The original field where the first World Series was played, and the site of current World Series Championship games at Lamade Stadium in South Williamsport is just two miles from The Genettie Hotel & Suites. About The Little League World Series 2011
The annual 32-game showcase of the top 11- and 12-year-old teams in the world will play the U.S. and International championship games on Aug. 26, with the title game scheduled for the following day.
The sixteen teams in the Little League Baseball World Series will reach Williamsport at the end of the world’s largest elimination tournament. The Little League International Tournament begins on July 1, and will feature more than 16,000 games over the following 45 days to determine the 16 finalists. Last year, the attendance over the 32 games of the Little League Baseball World Series topped 300,000.
The World Series will be played Aug. 18-28, 2011. All of the games will be played at the Little League International complex in Williamsport, PA.
The final rounds of the Little League World Series will be played at Howard J. Lamade Stadium where they have been played every year since 1959. The stadium seats approximately 10,000. The hillside terraces just beyond the outfield fence, which offers excellent viewing, can accommodate up to 30,000 more fans.
Early round games are played at Little League Volunteer Stadium and it seats about 5,000.
